Beautiful pics but brother and sister mating? That's not good!

Polly and Algo, mates in Montreal, are brother and sister, Dorothy (Beauty's mother) in Pittsburgh and her grandson are mates-probably this goes on much more than anyone knows.

I don't think this is all that rare in the bird world... or even in the world of nature. In 2009, Mariah and Archer mated (grandmother and grandson). Maybe it is the strength of the bloodlines...survival of the fittest?

Ivy in Winnipeg has been paired with his 'mom' for the past two years. He took over the site when dad didn't return home from migration.

It does indeed happen more than one would think. Animals don't have the same "moral" codes that (most) humans have.
Now and then a person with a pair of kittens will be completely surprised when the girl is suddenly pregnant. "But, he's her BROTHER!". Or, almost as common, a young male kitten experiments with his Mom behind the couch. Surprise!
