We are very happy to announce that after a long two year wait, Rochester finally has a young falcon in the nest box at the top of the Times Square Bldg.  Two eggs have not hatched and probably won't.  Since there is only one eyas this year, we've decided to have a naming...

Can't wait to see the names people have come up with for the chick! hint hint  wave Yes, I know the committee has lots of other important things to do like keeping an eye on all the falcons, and so I will try very hard to be patient.

The final results of the voting are in.

The name with the most votes is Orion.

Orion is the constellation of "The Hunter" who watches over Rochester's winter skies and is one of the most recognizable constellations.

The name was submitted by Kristen Weick.

And we can all pronounce it and pretty much know what it means.

Now the lull before the nail biting fledge time.   Can someone put nets on all the windows up there?  And stop all the traffic around TSB?

Well, it's a thought.

Great minds, Bonnie!  I was thinking the same thing-- on names, nets and traffic!

Thank you so much, everyone! I am so thrilled that my name suggestion was chosen! I was pretty much in shock when I found out and I feel so honored and humbled. Being born and raised in Rochester and watching the beautiful Rochester falcons for many years on the webcams and in person when I've been able to, this means so much to me. Thanks to all who voted and love this name as much as I do. We had so many wonderful suggestions this year!
