A falcon from the Far North did an overnight layover in Ottawa this week as part of its 9,000-mile journey to South America.

http://frg.org/track_pefa12.htm On the move  Track her

Since I've been reporting the travels of peregrine falcon Island Girl for some years now, I'm happy to tell you that she's on the move north again from her South American winter grounds.

She left south-central Chile on April 17, according to this blog post from the Southern Cross Peregrine Project. This is her fifth documented migration since the group tagged her with a transmitter.
Several other transmitters failed within a year, so they're delighted that hers still is going strong in year five. If all goes as planned, she'll return to her nesting area in Baffin Island, Canada.

I'm fascinated by these migrations. If you feel the same, you can follow her daily progress at this site. Looks like she's just reaching Peru.

Yes but you'd have to fly Falcon airlines and they don't allow any luggage   Wink

That's ok. With the money I'd save on air fares, I could afford to by new clothes when I reached my destination.
