Had the great - unexpected! - pleasure of having a Pileated Woodpecker visit my sister's yard/garden in ROC's Browncroft area. Wanted to grab my bins but knew its presence would be brief. So I just sat and enjoyed.

On my morning ride around the ranch today I came across a Pileated Woodpecker. It's a life bird for me so I was really excited to find it. He kept moving and gave me a hard time getting a pic of him. I did get 1 blurry pic and then a car came up behind me. I had to move the jeep cuz the dirt road wasn't wide enough to go around me. I lost the large woodpecker after that. I hope to find it again while I'm here this month.

Lucky, MAK! They're probably in the woods behind our house but I've never seen one.
