Bird recovered after being rescued.

Crookston, Minn. -- A Pileated Woodpecker hit the window on the north side of the Sahlstrom Conference Center on the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus earlier this week. After placing a milk crate over the bird to catch it, dining services staff called John Loegering, associate professor of Natural Resources, for assistance. Loegering retrieved it, banded the bird, and released it in the Nature Nook on campus. Natural resources student Tim Baker helped Loergering band the woodpecker, which seemed recovered when it flew off.
It is all in a day's work for Loegering and the faculty in Natural Resources.
