DaddyLouC (Lou): Peregrine Falcon on bldg 326 in Kodak Park. South side, viewable from Weiland Rd. Eating.

After getting Lou's tweet, Mak, Brian and I left downtown for Kodak Park.  Don't know if Lou got pics, but Dana had her long lens out.  The Purple-banded Pigeon Eater was on the corner of a building with another bird smaller in size - a CROW!  This could have been a smaller crow, or this peregrine is really big.  Just as we got out of the car, it started to rain.  Lou and Dana left, then it poured.  The rain let up a little and I asked Brian to hold my golf umbrella while I took some pictures.

Hopefully, one of us caught a better glimpse of the bicolor band.  When I got home, I ate and fell asleep. Didn't get a chance to upload my pics.  Will share any findings later.

wnyfalconfan (Joyce): Got shots of PPE's black/red band, but nothing readable. The white spots on band were crimps. Bad weather, no tripod -- needed scope. Darn.

Nature Rules!

Thought I should inform everyone that PPE stands for purple pigeon eater. BrianH named the Kodak Park falcon this because of the purple band she wears.
CarolP and I went to look for her this evening and after waiting over an hour we were treated to an appearance. She came up from behind us and landed near where she was spotted last nite off Weiland Rd. Our PPE wasted no time as before Carol could get the scope fixed on her she was off and snagging a pigeon quite efficiently!  Carol said wow what a great hunter! We were impressed to say the least. She flew back behind the building she stooped from and out of sight.
We decided to drive around to see if we could find her which we did. We drove onto the main entrance road off Latona Rd. and there she was. Again Carol tried to get the scope on her but was thwarted by a Kodak security guard. We were told in no uncertain terms that it was private property owned by Kodak and we must leave directly. No pictures,no scopes and no binoculars are allowed. So much for identifying the falcon tonite.
Carol had to go to a meeting and I went back downtown to check on our falcons. I parked on the Broad St. bridge and found Beauty and Archer on OCSR. It was getting dark so I went home at this point. I am confident that one of our watchers will get a scope or long lens camera on the Kodak falcon so we can solve the mystery of who she is soon.   heart heart heart heart
