Belle is on the eggs. As I drove up — and I know this is anthropomorphizing — I could think of no word but "valiant" to describe the sight of Allen riding the near-gale winds, going on the hunt.

Bev posted some pics of her left eye yesterday on BCAW and it's partially open.  She showed a pic of her injuries to an in-the-know biologist who said he's seen worse and that it should get better over time (barring any bad infection). With Allen hunting for her right now, it's a good thing, allowing her to rest and heal. I can't get the cam either.

I've done everything to try and get that cam to open! It just won't! I have all the plug-ins, reinstalled the new quicktime and NADA!! It's just one of those cams!!

Belle returned at the same moment ODNR called. How's that for serendipity? ODNR was glad to hear that she's flying and that both birds are incubating the eggs. As others here have said, the state would intervene only if Belle took a turn for the worse. For now, I'll keep them updated (for some reason, no one in ODNR has a FB page!) and we'll go from there.
