Fledge Watch Recap – Jim Pisello, June 21, 7:00AM – 8:00PM

I spent much of yesterday out watching the fledglings, with some breaks in between. Official watchers will be sending their reports. Here’s a recap of the day’s events.

Jim, Thanks so much for the descriptive reporting and photos. It must be very exhilirating to say the least, to watch the girls going through some tough flights.

  2. Anne, Michigan Says:

absolutely loved the stories and the photos. now, what would have happened if one of the fledglings needed help? you run to where you think she is and then what? also, i am not familiar with rochester so is it possible to have photos/layout of the buildings so i can become even more familiar with the travels of the girls? thank you for sharing; you play well with others!

  3. Pam Says:

Thanks to everyone who makes sharing this awesome experience possible! Some of my office pals have shared this too, since the courting days not too long ago. The pictures are great. Wish I could join you!

  4. Nancy Cottom Says:

The reports and photos were wonderful. It made me feel like I was there watching, too, even though I’m in Pittsburgh. This is a great program!

  5. Janet Pyles Says:

Once the birds leave the scrape it’s hard for all of us who have had a daily fix of the youngsters. We know they are fledging, and doing alot of learning- but we can’t see them! Your photos and comments are incredibly helpful, reassuring and interesting. Thank you.

  6. Susan Says:

thanks to all of you with the amazing fledge reports, and even more amazing photos. I’ve been watching Mariah and Kaver for years and every year is the best year ever !! I feel so close to the action.

  7. Erin Says:

Everyone has done a fantastic job with the update of the Fledge Watch. Thanks to all! It makes my day being able to check in on the girls. Jim wonderful pictures on your site and great descriptions!. Shakemon site is great too!. To Everyone thanks for all your hard work and talent.

It looks like Linn has had some company from one of her sisters this afternoon. I can’t wait for the “little one” to take her first flight. I am going to miss all this once everyone takes off on thier own. In general how long do the siblings continue to encourage each other or continue to be encouraged by thier parents now that they are flying?

thank-you for your great report. The pictures were fantastic. We grow attached to these birds so it is nice to be able to follow their progress.

P.S. the smoke stack photos of ananta’s bad landing choice brought my heart to my throat! it certainly is not easy leaving the nest, is it? that’s something i think we humans forget when it’s our offspring who are leaving: the exit turbulence is very real for THEM too……spoken by someone whose youngest is trying to leave but having a difficult time: the equivalent of ananta’s smokestack landing i guess.
