Quest Likes Port Hope & Another Mariah Release Picture

Quest continues to enjoy her stay in Port Hope, on the north shore of Lake Ontario, about 45 miles (80km) east of Toronto, Canada. For the most part she’s been staying near the MacDonald-Cartier Freeway which is also known as the Highway of Heroes. Satellite imagery shows lots of woodland and agricultural fields. No doubt she’s finding plenty of food there, but she’s also been spending time hunting over the lake and at nearby Kendal Park. The DEC’s Mike Allen sent along another picture of Mariah’s release, taken by a colleague of his at the moment she left her carrier. Mike said she used the lip of the carrier to launch herself skyward. Apparently she did it without a moment’s hesitation– she’s a blur of motion in the picture!

What a great pic of Mariah leaving. She was definitely in a hurry to “Beat Feet” and Quest, what can I say, she’s amazing!

Although I’m LOVING the daily Quest map, it’s still nice to have a permanent record with commentary of where she’s been.
And Mariah & Mike…all I can say is WOW! What a magnificent creature she is!

I know I am a little complusive about checking on our birds but I actually smile when I see any type of update. Love the daily map, pictures and am just amazed we have this type of info to begin with–sweet!

Birdlover, I agree!!! The first thing I looked at was beautiful Mariah and how magnificent she looks (and is) but the expression on Mike’s face just struck me– such caring and tenderness! And he didn’t have his red hard hat!

You are not alone in your compulsion! I often drive through the village of Hilton on my way home from work, JUST so I can pass by Mariah Street, and then Quest Elementary School a few blocks further. And each and every time I pass by, I have a huge smile on my face…LOL!!!

Two great updates and just can’t get enough of that Mother and Daughter and any other sibling. No time to say good-byes – Mariah was out of there in a heart beat! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
I hope someone gets pictures of Quest and passes them for all of us to see how magnificent she must look at being a whole year old now.
I can’t say thank you enough to all that share pictures and the updates.

Well, that’s what I call a falcon on a mission! Without his helmet and broom Mike is doing his best to avoid being at the business end of those talons. I wonder if the D&C could use this picture?
Deborah, I glanced over the Port Colbourn online news for a birder blog or possible sightings of Quest but the only “wildlife” picture I found was with a report about an annual naked cycling tour. Oh Canada! 🙂

It cannot be completely read, but I do detect a bald eagle on it and what might be a peregrine. However, I agree with birdlover and do believe I see an s in front of the iah 🙂
Below it looks as if there are numbers – ending with 81?

I think his shirt might say Isaiah 40:31. It is a Bible verse that talks about “Mounting up with wings as eagles.”
