Just a quick note to let everyone know that all seven Falcons; Mariah, Kaver, Seneca, Susan B, Quest, Diamante and (drumroll please) Zephyr! were seen today by the Watchers.

All are doing extremely well. 🙂

Excellent news, thanks to all of the watchers who have kept us to date over these last few weeks, it has been very enjoyable reading about the antics of our juvies. Also thanks for all the great photographs.

  3. Maureen in MA Says:

Oh GREAT news!! Thank you so much for sharing that with us! The season may be winding down, but at least we know that all are healthy and accounted for as they start to head out on their own paths.

  4. Sarah in Florida Says:

    Thanks Carol!
It is a very nice start to the day knowing that you and others are keeping watch. There is so little I can do personally to witness the many creatures in nature, all going about their lives, trying to survive in the complex and sometimes hostile environment we call our world. Something is surely going RIGHT in this small part of it!!!

  5. Lorr54 Says:

Great news! I was bginning to think Zephyr had gone out on his own adventure. thank you!

  6. Kathy V Says:

Oh thank you, that must have been a wonderful sight. I’m sure glad they are all doing well.

  7. Barbara Says:

Does anyone know how the falcons are dealing with the Air Show activity this weekend? My Dad said the Thunderbirds fly-bys are low and extremely loud.

  8. Carol P. Says:

They’re fine Barbara. We were there during the show times and none of the young Falcons were harmed. Boy, those Thunderbirds are fast and loud! – Carol P.

  9. Barbara Says:

Carol, thank you for letting me know the air show didn’t affect the Falcons. They must have nerves of steel!

What raised the question in my mind was the recent disturbance of two Bald Eagle youngsters who were startled off their Catalina Island nest by a plane. The Eagles were at fledging point, but there was concern. Thankfully, they’re also both fine.

  10. Debbie H. Says:

Today at around 2 pm on top of Midtown Plaza (on the roof of Citizen’s Bank – corner of Main and Clinton) Diamonte (we think it was him) was sitting there for about 15 minutes. We were admiriing him, and then he started to take off. He then chased the pigeons – back and forth, back and forth they went. I almost jumped out of my skin!! I have been saying “there’s lots to eat here at Main and Clinton – come on down!” I was really hoping to see one of our babies snag a pigeon, but it didn’t happen today – maybe tomorrow!!

  11. Kathy V Says:

I take it we have reached that time where there will be no more pictures, and very few, if any, sightings? That saddens me, I will miss them, being there thru the whole ordeal. I hope and pray that they all fly off and make families of their own, and are safe. Glad the Thunderbirds, didn’t have any effect on them. Glad the other two bald eagles are okay too. I hope wherever the new location is for the nest box, next year, will prospere as this one has for many years. Looking forward to next year.

  12. Kathy V Says:

    Love you all…Quest..Susan B…Seneca…Diamante..and Zephyr

  13. Maureen in MA Says:

It is sad, but at least we know they’ve made it thru the first important chapter of their journey. Good tidings always!

I just checked the yahoo site and the pictures Lou took of Zephyr flying low over the watchers with a disarticulated pigeon wing are absolutely hilarious! I hope he shares the link to his pictures with this board. They’re priceless.

Is it possible for you to post the Yahoo link you mentioned for those challenged in finding it – like me? 😉
