Wednesday Evening Falcon Watch – 10/29/14
By Rochester Falcon Watcher Carol P.
5:45 – 6:30 pm
It was much colder tonight than it was yesterday when we broke a record high temp with a 78 degree day. Temps were in the 50’s (F) with dark clouds and a bit of light rain on and off. My week day evening watches are getting shorter I’m afraid.
My route into downtown Rochester usually takes me by the Kodak Tower first. I parked near Frontier Stadium and checked out the south and west side of the tall building. There was a falcon on the west side of the launch pad and it looked like it had food. It took off and and flew around to the north side. I could hear loud ee-chups and the falcon reappeared, landing on the southeast corner of the launch pad, then moving out of view.

I headed over to the northeast side of the Kodak Tower where I was able to see the falcon on the northeast corner of the launch pad. I do believe this was Dot.ca, due to the smaller size and very white chest. While I was watching Dot.ca, Joyce and Brian reported that they had a falcon up inside the OCSR elevator shaft. Probably Beauty. Due to his behavior and vocalization, I really thought she might have been somewhere on the Kodak Tower. Was there something else that had his attention? I checked all sides of the Kodak Tower, but did not find anything in the low light. Dot.ca remained on this corner looking north until 6:20 pm, when he took off and headed south towards downtown. It was dark by then. There were no further vocalizations after what I heard when I first arrived.
I’ll leave you with a few pics of the Kodak Tower and Dot.ca. Goodnight all!

Love the dusk pics, Carol! Too bad our nice weather didn’t last a little longer!

Thanks very much Patricia. I love the city at night, especially the river. It’s very beautiful there.
