Morning Falcon Watch 11-28-15

By Rochester Falcon Watcher MAK

It was very dark and overcast today with a temperature of  37 (F) 3 (C)

I didn’t see Billie or Seth today either at the start, middle or end of my watch. They had other plans for their day. There were no sightings at Hawkeye and it wasn’t until 7:45am that I found a falcon downtown. Main St. was lit up for the holidays as turned onto it.

As I was pulled over on Woodbury Blvd. I could see Beauty up on one of the southwest corners of Legacy Tower (we call this one Archers’ corner) and she had food.

Beauty stopped eating after a while for 10-15 minutes then picked up a chunk of food, turned her back to me and started eating again.

When the Beautyful one was done eating she did a lot of feaking and twirling as she just keeps going around in circles in place. She flew off at 8:45am heading northwest. Larry reported seeing her leave but didn’t see her come through. I found her on the top I-beam of OCSR close to the west corner. Larry couldn’t see her there from Crossroads Park where he and Harold were watching.

I went over to the Andrews St. bridge to chat with Larry then left downtown to check the Brighton site and he left for home. I didn’t see any falcons at Brighton site but I found a hawk on a building behind BS.

AfterI made a stop I drove back through downtown hoping to find Dot.ca (DC). I saw that Beauty was still on OCSR and when I looked around from the Andrews St. bridge I spotted our boy, DC on the Ellwanger & Barry (E&B) building eating on the green strip ledge.

I was parked on Corinthian St. watching as DC took his food to the back of the ledge to finish it up. I would only see his head when he stuck it up to look around. When DC was done he came out to the edge to do some feaking and cleaning up.

DC flew off at 10:37am heading southeast-I checked OCSR and saw that Beauty was gone too so I imagine they went somewhere together, maybe the elevator shaft.

I left and headed over to the Medley Centre where I spotted a falcon on a light pole near Sears but when I pulled over and looked again it was gone and I never found it again. I made a couple more stops and got home around noon and ended my watch at that time with no falcons see at Seneca Towers. It made me smile to know that Beauty and DC had both eaten on a chilly end of November morning! 🙂
