Carol P. – Fledge Watch – All Doing Well! – July 1, 2008 – (7:30 am – 1:30 am)

No pictures to share at this time, but I just wanted to let everyone know that all five fledglings have returned to the Kodak Tower.  Lots of flying by all five.  I’m sure pictures will be shared soon.  😉

We actually saw Diamante come off of the tower and chase a moth.  Incredible flying!!!

Glad to hear an update – thanks !! I noticed one of the adults in the scrape earlier. I’ve read that the adults sometimes act as if they are preparing the scrape for next year during the time the current brood is fledging – have you seen that behavior ? What about the outcome for a new nest next year ?

Yes, thank you! Any news is much appreciated.

We have often observed, at various webcams, that the parent birds look as if they are preparing to start the whole process over again. Sometimes this has raised false hopes. But a second clutch is usually only attempted in the event that the first was lost early in the season. The bonding behaviors continue between the couple, but they are really completely tied up guiding the fledglings into the “real world”.
