Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Linn (2007) - Scarborough/Yellow Pages

So I have news on Linn. Last week I received an email from Marlene (Aria's site) with a cropped photo she took from the latest TWC (Toronto Wildlife Centre) Newsletter. A 19 year old falcon was found on the side of a road barely moving and brought in to TWC. She received supportive care and was released successfully! The article said was 19 years old so I knew it might be Linn but they didn't provide band information. So I asked our friend Rob to ask and see if he could find out. Today he confirmed 91/V BLK/Grn so it was Linn that was recued and released a few months ago. I thought you might like to know that Mariah and Kaver's daughter is still out there somewhere Attached the little blurb I was sent (you may have to download it to read the part about the Pefa):

LAKERIDGE BANDING : And yesterday afternoon, we headed out to Oshawa to band our Lakeridge chicks - busy day! Congrats to ALFREIDA and VELCRO, 2 boys and 2 girls!! ALFREIDA was waiting right at the Hatch for our bander Mark! She heard us and she knew what was coming. What an absolutely fierce mom defending her chicks❤️
After Mark and Eva retrieved the chicks(took a bit to get Mom to leave them) they were brought back in to get their bling! A few people were there to watch, it's a very tight space but we managed and it's always fun. Thanks to Nicole and Matt for arranging for us to band.
Welcome : ASPEN , 645g, male, banded X/67, white tape OAK , 600g, male, banded X/65, blue tape WILLOW , 870g, female, banded H/34, yellow tape MAPLE , 830g, female, banded H/35, red tape
Then it was time for the kids to go back and that was quite the chore.. Mom would not get out of the box so we could safely put them back(check out the fantastic pictures Eva got of her). She was finally, gently swept out, a cardboard piece put up so no one would bolt, and the kids were home! The second the cardboard was removed, Mom was there! Whew. What a great Mom❤️

It's a girl! From Peregrine Place: In a strange turn of events, the new Corpus Christi nest now has one egg. A new Canadian banded peregrine showed up recently at the nest site & was courting with an unbanded peregrine. It was identified by the Canadian Peregrine Foundation as a male, C/53, Kai, hatched at Etobicoke General in 2024. The mother is from Buffalo Statler, grandparents Ralphie & Alice. Great great descendant of Rochester Mariah & Kaver. An egg was recently laid at CC but by Kai & not the Noba! So Kai is a female, not male as originally banded. Strange things happen every year with Peregrines. Welcome Kai!

Another in the M&K line:
From Friends of CPF:
Exciting news! KAI, 2024 hatch at William Osler /Etobicoke General has been spotted in Buffalo NY!! Banded C/53, he was just the tiniest little guy (but very fiesty) and is the son of KODA-IDESTA and BIRCH. KODA is from Buffalo, so her son is making that his home. He has found a lovely nest site, which has a camera but it is private. But our friends at Peregrine Place do report on that site, so we will watch for updates and share them here.
Way to go KAI!

From Friends of CPF:
"Great news from St. Louis, Missouri!! One of our peregrines has been spotted in the downtown area and her band was clearly seen, 00/AB. This belongs to SCARLET, hatched in 2020, at the Masters Condos in Etobicoke. We have no other information on SCARLET as yet but we are hoping for more photos and details soon 🤞
SCARLET's parents are ARIA and INDY. She had one sibling, MILBURN, who went missing during fledge watch. ARIA (black/green, 85/BA, 2016 hatch from Rochester, NY) is the daughter of DOT.CA and BEAUTY.
'INDY' (black/red, 13/N, 2013 hatch from Gary, Indiana) does not have an official name. With much thanks to Kathy Majich, we have learned that "INDY was born in 2013 at US Steel old coke plant Gary, Indiana. Father is Steely Dan, also born at the same plant as Indy. Father's parents both listed as unbanded. Mother is unbanded" Sadly, Indy was found dead in 2022, not far from his Etobicoke nest site, as a result of an altercation with another peregrine.
If/when we hear more about SCARLET, we will share the news! Cheers, Lucie "

News from Friends of Canadian Peregrine Foundation - Aria's daughter Aurora photographed in Brampton.
Some great news out of Brampton! Aurora, 36/AB, 2024 hatch from the Masters, Etobicoke, has been spotted in Brampton this week!!
From these 3 pictures from Ray Vander Kooy..... We are fairly confident it is indeed Aurora.
Always wonderful to hear about the ones who have made it past their first tough year! Hope she sticks around and finds a nest site in the next few years.
Thank you so much to Rob Mueller for bringing us this information and to Ray for his pictures.
Look at that peachy colored breast!!!
Just like her grandma. Yes, she reminds me very much of Beauty
