Walking in the woods

Had a chance to walk on the rail trail today...I've been walking non-interesting places lately...and it was well worth the drive!
First...wooly bear caterpillar says mild winter...
A Great Blue Heron...
Then a life bird for me...a Green Heron!
A bunch of Red Eared Sliders...
And this Box Turtle that rolled off the hill and landed on his back at my feet...I set him straight and sent him on his way

That's neat about the box turtle, I could just picture it. The green herons are neat. I've never seen one except in San Angelo, TX one of the trips down there.

No birds on my walk today, though a runner mentioned he had seen the heron...the "big" one today and about 1/2 dozen of the "small" ones the other day...that would be something to see!
It was all about frogs today!

Today I found a couple of frogs...who all chirped as they dove under water...got one though...
I wonder why everyone who sees me with the camera assumes I'm looking for birds? A tip clued me in on "the big one" across the beaver pond...
I guess I'm getting fairly good at spotting bird behavior...I knew he was going to take off...a bit blurry but still caught him!
