Thursday October 22, 2009
Our three chicks are growing up fast and beginning to move around the nest box.
Next Thursday is banding day. Between 9 - 10AM Australian EDST researchers from the Victorian Peregrine Project will travel up to the nest box to retrieve the chicks for their health assessment and banding.
Each year we have a tradition to name the new falcon chicks. Now that our birds have gone global, we're asking those watching over the world wide web for nominations. If you would like to nominate a name, please email us with your nomination, whether it is suitable for a male or female and what the name means to you.
Oh no! She's gonna do that thing where she all of a
sudden disappears! I don't want to look...really I don't!
Well, maybe one tiny peek...

Amazing the difference in their faces...big girl has a beautiful mask already...tiny, not so much...
Hey Aafke! Wings! I love the "paintbrush" stage of their feathers!

From Utah to Anglesea, in the name of falcons
Utah is a long way from the small coastal town of Anglesea.
But that didn't stop four falcon enthusiasts from Salt Lake City in Utah, USA, from making a detour on their recent Australian holiday to see firsthand the peregrine falcons they have long been following on the webcam....

They didn't list the time, but I would guess it's the same as before...9-10AM...which will be Tues night 5-6pm eastern time.
Love those pantaloons!

I saved this one to comment on how cute they are when their feathers are coming in and they still have a lot of fluff-they often can't seem to hold their wings up for very long, they're so heavy.
Didn't even notice until I looked at it enlarged that #3 is in the left corner...between the brown breast and white spots, she blended right in with the box!
