It was believed that Éole and his mate Ève were raising three chicks at St-Marc's church, but as of today it has been confirmed that there are actually four chicks! So despite losing his battle with Arthurin, it has been a good year for Éole.

Where did the 4th come from?? Wow!!

I read that one of Polly and Algo's babies has been injured and rescued. Depending on injury, may not fly again? Sad

I think you are referring to Achille, Polly and Algo's son and Amazone's brother?

Achille has recovered and has been released.

July 2 2015

News of Achille (Polly and Algo's son)! Thanks to the great care he received at the UQROP clinic, he has been released in the area of the Turcot Interchange. He was seen today with his parents and his sister, and it seems that the whole family is doing well so far. More news and a complete report from Richard to come.

And from Richard:

The report is as follows:

Achille, the male juvenile who had a collision with a window on his second flight, one day after having fledged, was rescued and sent to the UQROP clinic for birds of prey as a precautionary measure, and after detailed examination, it was noted that the juvenile had a weakness in his left wing.

He will stay at the clinic in the company of a male foster parent, who will feed and care for him until he has recovered.

Once it had been determined that the juvenile was in good shape and able to fly again, a release was carried out by SEF in the area of the Interchange.

The release was not made public, at least in part for the safety and wellbeing of the bird.

Achille has been flying well, and playing with his sister.

Special day in Montreal!
Spirit and Arthurin have another girl... a young female found in a city at 3 hours from there. Impossible to find her parents there. She has been released at the university yesterday and all is well, they have adopted her.
The story here: http://fauconsudem.blogspot.com.au/2015/07/une-fille-adoptive-pour-spirit-et.html Sorry, it's in french.

Great story, Penelope..thanks for sharing!  I did a Google translation:

An adopted daughter for Spirit and Arthurin
While our three young females, Celeste, Luna and Eclipse, have fun and discover the joys of flying know, life is not always so easy for young peregrine falcons.

On June 23, a young female was on the ground on Lajoie Street in Trois-Rivières. She can only assume that time was in its first flights, good Samaritans found her and contacted UQROP to what to do. A search was conducted to find his parents and potential nest, but unfortunately the nest site could not be located. The bird was sent to the clinic UQROP June 26, where he was found to have no injuries except for a few broken tail feathers (central tail feathers). These broken feathers were extracted to allow new push. In the days that followed she recovered from her emotions and regained strength. By cons, given her age, she was not able to be released on her own without assistance because it has yet to learn to hunt. There are some options for birds in this situation, the best is to get adopted by experienced adults who can teach him the basics of life of urban hawk .... I quote the words of Guy Fitzgerald clinical birds of prey:
"I've already made this intervention successfully in the past. There is a period of time (a few weeks after fledging) where parents are receptive to accept new young people in their group and they are the best school of life for a young peregrine falcon. (...) it is not a foolproof technique. The bird could smash in a window or get hit by a car, but is a calculated risk. Even birds hatched on the site live or die with such hazards. "
Following an evaluation of potential sites, it was decided to release the new girl with the group of UdeM, as it is about the same age as his adoptive sisters. Spirit has much experience as a mom, and we saw qu'Arthurin is doing very well also, so there is no doubt they will be able to add another beak to feed. And the University campus offers a relatively safe environment compared to other places.

She was released yesterday around noon (Wednesday), and the date it goes well, no aggression on the part of members of the adoptive family. She does not wear colored ring, only a gray ring on the left leg. The first to find a name will be given to people who have found. Watch Facebook page falcons UdeM for daily news and photos!

I hope everything goes well for Marie and her adopted sisters. So far it looks as if she is being accepted, which is great.

First fledge at St-Marc

One of Éole and Ève's chicks at St-Marc's Church has fledged, probably a female. She is currently safe and sound on a balcony.

There are a couple of great photos of the fledgling on the Facebook page.

Update:

I think he was stuck in there:

Shortly after with the help of the mtq
Agents of the mffp and firefighters
Of Montreal, an intervention to been done
To help him out of his unfortunate
Situation.

Achilles is out by himself some
Minutes after the intervention during
That we were all busy
Discuss.

He is perched on a few seconds
The drain pipe under the heat exchanger to go
On the side of the centre gadbois and Christian
Fritschi who had come to monitor Achilles
With me took a photo while me
I was talking to one of the agents of the fauna.

In short he got away with over
Afraid of evil, and I hope
He won't make the same thing
Has a place where no one can
Help him.

A big thank you to Mr. Duclos of the mtq, mm. Ready
And Beaulieu of mffp and the services of
Fires of the city of Montreal for their
Help.

Thank you also to Christian frischi
For the photo of Achilles.
