You're not going to believe this. But tonite at 7:30 pm, a Falcon flew up and around and around the Research Lab Bldg at KP, finally landing on the SW corner. I quickly got out my scope and was surprised to see that it was a juvenile Peregrine and she (yes, I believe it was a she) was unbanded. She also had a very full crop.
She was a beautiful, light color. Like Aura and Sacajawea. She sat on the corner for about an hour (7:30-8:30 pm), then took off heading south east over the gorge.
Earlier, during the hour, an adult Peregrine Falcon flew over, heading north east over the gorge. Mariah??? The juvie watched the adult pass over with great interest and no vocalization.
I have to wonder if she's begging for food from Mariah??? That's just a suspicion. It's documented that roaming juveniles will beg from other adults.
I'm having fun keeping an eye on KP and the Merrill St folks are happy to look through the scope.
