Illkirch-Graffenstaden Peregrines, France

This is a new site with a webcam which came on line on February 22 of this year. Illkirch-Graffenstaden is located in the extreme northeast corner of France, not far from Strasbourg.

In September 2016, a nest box was installed on the bell tower of the Church of Saint Symphorien, where a peregrine had been observed for about two years. The lone peregrine took possession of the nest box, and soon attracted a female.

The peregrines have been named Flash and Valentine.

Talk about home being your castle !!  Wow that's quite the nestbox!!  Love the names!

And imagine, they made that big of a mess just since last September.  They are falcons after my own heart.

Valentine laid her first egg this evening. It wasn't there a little while ago.



Congratulations to Flash and Valentine!

The deck is still messy, but less visible after dark. Peregrines are not exactly known for being neat freaks, with a few exceptions.

The webcam has been back online for a short time, and Flash and Valentine have both been around. Last year they successfully raised four chicks at this nest, and I hope this year will also be a good one for them.
