Kids out N about

Can't believe BettyAnn won't call Cadence by her name, they don't name but we do. The news gal said Cadence and Betty said, we don't name our falcons. Oh well!! 4 healthy eyases, that's all that matters!

Got down there today, in the rain, and fog, but Cadence and her mate (Dad, Allen, whomever) was with her on top of the antennas on top of the building.  We could see the igloo and new, artificial turf, perches.  Can't see the eyases, yet, but soon.  It is a lot like Times Square.  The fledglets won't have far to go when they take that giant leap.  Photos coming.

Thanks, Bonnie! Did Cadence recognize you and your camera from the day you took those lovely photos of her on the pedestrian bridge at High Falls? Wink

I'm so glad you're able to visit with Cadence and her family. Thanks Bonnie!  thumbsup

I'm trying very hard to post photos, but I can't seem to get under the 1024 kb allowed.  Hope this one goes through.  Of course, the cam photos are FAR superior.  You just get to see what she does off cam.  And OF COURSE she remembered me from three years ago and through the rain and fog from 3 blocks away!  LOL  I'll be down again when I can get photos of the pre-fledglets.  Parking is very tough.

Thanks Bonnie! Your pictures really give you a different perspective. Do you have a picture of the building that the nest is on?

Here are stock images of the Union County Courthouse Tower in Elizabeth, NJ:

https://www.emporis.com/buildings/123474/union-county-courthouse-tower-building-elizabeth-nj-usa

The igloo is on the left side, SW??? corner?  two levels down from the top.  There are lower buildings all around the area and a few parking garages.  Streets are narrow and most vehicles are court and police vans.  People seem to know about the falcons.  My lens was too long to get most of the building.

From the Union County Courthouse Falcon News

A pair first attempted to build a nest on the roof of the County Courthouse in 2005, but windy conditions were an obstacle. In 2006 County workers installed a repurposed dog house to provide a wind shield, acting on the guidance of wildlife experts with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Every year until 2015, the same nesting pair has raised chicks in the doghouse since then.
