I will get to Union County Courthouse shortly to see Cadence in action.  Not sure they will band the chick this year because of the stress on Cadence.

That's great Bonnie!  clap

Oh, I hope they don't.  Cadence will absolutely flip out.

6.05 am - Dad on baby warming duty this morning since I logged on at 5.30 am.

7.55 am - Dad still in with baby.  Cadence must be out hunting.

8.19 am - Was away from desk so missed Cadence coming back.  She's brooding baby now.

8.24 am - Cadence left briefly and came back in with food.  Feeding going on.

Dad knocked baby on his baby and is trying to brood him..baby is struggling to turn over. He kept trying to pull the baby over to the eggs and knocked him over instead..baby still struggling.

New post on FB - looks like they will be banding the baby:

Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ
2 hrs ยท

Union County Falcon Cam

It has certainly been a rough season for the peregrine falcons at the Union County nest - one of the two hatched eyas did die earlier in the week. It's unlikely the third egg from 91/BA will hatch if it does not do so by this weekend. From CWF Habitat Program Manager Ben Wurst, "before the young even fledge, they need the perfect recipe to survive and thrive. This cool, wet spring has been tough on many long time successful nests along the coast of New Jersey, who are the backbone for the state population."

At the moment, one eyas remains and CWF plans to band the chick by the end of June.

Baby is up against the wall again - he's so big I think it's more comfortable to lean against the wall as there isn't much room under mom or dad anymore.  Cadence on duty..what will she do..she's looking at the baby and then back at the eggs and how to reconcile the two.  Now she's thinking...thinking... Sherlock Holmes

...and she's found a middle ground.  Eggs in front of her near her breast and her tail end is covering baby by the wall  paperbag

I don't like the looks of this at all.  scared blue This nesting site has been awful from the beginning, and I just hope this remaining chick survives if he's not being allowed to move freely and develop normally.

This is what they say on the site about this!

Betty Ann Kelly ยท Stockton University
I didn't get all of the footage but maybe tomorrow. This clip is actually quite comical. Watch as the adult male trips over the eyas who seems to want to explore, then tries to drag him over and under him. He later succeeds. Good nite all

Is this normal or not? I know Beauty did this a few times but it just hatched and it scooted!

Didn't Beauty drag one back into the nestbox that had fallen out? It was still a small fluffball like Junior.
