Will there be a 2nd egg? Beauty usually averages 57 hrs between eggs. It's been over 75 hrs since she laid her first one. All quiet, so hopefully the intruder has moved on and Beauty starts laying eggs again.

I seem to recall another year where one of the eggs was very late. I tried to look it up last night but got distracted. It may have been the last time there was a serious intruder a few years ago. We shall see!

One of the Imprints blogs from 2007 has some good information regarding just such a question about delay in egg laying.

https://rfalconcam.com/imprinting/?p=45

"I've consulted with some falcon experts and learned a couple of things. The first is that long egg-laying times are not quite as rare as the literature might seem to indicate. It happened at a couple of nests in Toronto, Canada, for example. In those cases, territorial disputes appear to have been the cause, but age, weather and external stresses can all cause egg laying to be delayed. The consensus seems to be that as female Peregrines get older the normal gap of 48 to 72 hours between eggs can stretch, sometimes quite a bit."

5.50 pm - Beauty upset and vocalizing from nest box.  She flew out and flew right back.  Same vocalizations as when intruder was here..she's looking up.

Beauty was in egg laying position from 8:41 pm to 8.50 pm, then she immediately laid down. Couldn't tell if she actually laid an egg or not.
