Black Beaks/Yellow Beaks

Cali & Jemi's beaks are all black. Will they eventually turn yellow like their parents? If so, about when? If not, why not?

They will gradually show more yellow as they approach 1 year of age. At that point they will be molting into their adult feathers and will have an adult yellow cere & beak. Assuming Jemison is a male as we suspect, his beak & cere-as well as his legs-will likely be a deeper & brighter yellow than Callidora.

Just re-read my answer-just to be clear-the tip of the adult beak is gray/black with yellow near the cere.

What is the difference between "baby" feathers and "adult" feathers? At this point the "kids" seem to me to be almost as big as the parents (it's hard to figure out who's without close-ups) and their feathers look the same.

It can be hard to tell at a distance. Juvie feathers are brown & beige. Adults are dark grey & white-though Beauty's chest is more peach colored than pure white. Juvie belly feathers are streaked vertically, adults horizontally.
Don't have time right now to post comparison pictures...
