KathyQ & Kinney's grandkids banded. 2 and 2.
Peregrine falcon chicks were taken from their nest on the roof of We Energies' Port Washington generating station and banded. There were two males and two females. The males are named Dr. J and Peeta (a character in 'The Hunger Games') and the females are named Edna and Patricia.
Yesterday, Kinney and KathyQ's grandkids were banded at a site in Wisconsin. Faithful falconhead Sylvia went to the banding and it was WONDERFUL. She was able to share the magnificent maternal lineage of these chicks with everyone who attended. Here's a link to pictures taken by journalist yesterday. Long live the Ks!

DNR checks on falcon offspring and the kids are alright.
Sisenta, the male falcon, is Kinney's 60th offspring -- hence his name, which is Spanish for 60. Kinsey, the female falcon, is the 61st, making Kinney the most productive male peregrine in the Midwest.

IPL 4
Thought you all might enjoy a picture of the IPL chicks down on Indy's southside. They were banded yesterday after the Market Tower chicks. John C. banded them all as female (photo is courtesy of John Castrale), although he said it was difficult to make an exact determination. I tell you, if looks could kill...

One of the kids flapped/fell to the 27th floor ledge. Thanks Dawn Cooper for capturing this pic! Looks to be okay! We have 2 watchers on the ground now. Other chick is still on 31st floor ledge. from FB

Tragic news just posted by Alison over on BCAW, Kinney has been found dead. One of my favorite nests and pairs. I can't imagine how KathyQ will do without her longtime mate
This is from his Facebook page as posted by Alison. RIP Kinney, you WILL be missed.
It's with the saddest of hearts, a huge lump in my throat and copious amount of tears that I tell you all that Kinney has died. His body has been recovered from the 29th floor of Market Tower. Details aren't known of the how but it looks like a collision. I will post more later.

If you didn't know Kinney; here is an excerpt from a Father's Day post to him from their blog site:
Happy Father’s Day to all but particularly to one special falcon-dad, Kinney! You have sired 61 chicks over a remarkable lifetime of 19 falcon years and I think that deserves special recognition in any world. I hope you have successful hunts today with lots of peaceful, rest time while watching your young ‘uns play and grow before your eyes with your faithful mate, KathyQ by your side.

It's very sad to read of Kinney's passing. Poor KathyQ. Fly high and free, Kinney.

He lived a good long life and made an exceptional contribution of 61 chicks to the comeback of Peregrine Falcons. I salute him!
So sorry Alison...
