Rnews just reported that neighbors in the  area hillside ave area saw a falcon.  Neighbors even took pictures.  I saw the report on the second half of the hour.  I just saw it again and I am not quite sure it is a falcon

My first instinct is juvie red-tail, but the tail stripes look a bit too distinct...but then again, not a big enough picture to really see...

That's the only photo they have.  They didn't post up the video from the story.  Carol's "eagle eye" can probably tell us more.  I don't see a band either.

On the lonsberry show (local talk show), a guy called to say a falcon was in his neighborhood.  This was a few months ago.  That neighborhood is cobbs hill and hillside ave is not far from there.  I am thinking this type of bird is what this guy saw.

I wish the picture was larger but I think it is some kind of hawk.

At least the folks in the neighborhood were excited!

Maybe a juvie red-shouldered?  Definitely NOT a PEFA!  No "helmet" and the head's too flat.  Just my opinion...

I'd put my money on a juvenile Red-Tailed hawk. There's a few pictures of juvies in this video where you can see the stripes in the tail.

I was just posting confirmation at the same time, Lou.  It is definitely a juvie red-tailed hawk.  I have an exact picture in my book "Raptors of Eastern North America" by Brian Wheeler that looks like this hawk.  There are so many variations of RTH juvies, but I'm convinced because they are seen in that area, and the sightings of squirrel.

I wrote to YNN to comment.
