Beauty just left NB, but watching Ustream, I kept hearing loud roaring type noises.  Noisier than the normal traffic noise we hear during the week.  Beauty kept looking around; a little more agitated than normal? 
Did anyone else notice that?  Are they demolishing more of Midtown today?

I don't know if Beauty is more agitated, but the noise has been going on for quite a while now.  There was a tweet that Lou was going to investigate, but I haven't seen anything.

Just checked with Dana.  Lou believes that it is an air compressor at the Democrat & Chronicle (D&C) that is located next to the Times Square bldg (across Broad St., same side).

We noticed it yesterday, but it was quiet this morning.  Started up again this afternoon.  Hopefully it will stop soon and I can't believe it will continue during the week when people are in that building working.

VERY ANNOYING!!!   nono suspicious

Thanks for checking!  Nothing nefarious then, but it can't be working properly with all that noise.  Hopefully they fix it soon!

Oh I think it's working ok. It goes off every few minutes and a big puff of steam billows up from whatever it is! Louigi has the location correct it's back behind the D&C somewhere. Grin

Sounds more like a steam relief valve than a compressor. Maybe someone forgot and left the boiler running at full tilt over the weekend.

 scared blue The same thing happened last week.  It is a pipe coming out of the Civic Center Garage.  I was told it was from the boiler room.  I hope my place of business is still there tomorrow!
