For the last few days, I've been spending time with some friends and a family of Ospreys. Three young ones have just learned what their wings were made for, FLYING! Dana alerted everyone that the Osprey young were getting ready to fledge. A few of of the Falcon Watchers have visited and I'm sure there will be lots of pictures posted in the future. Here's a bunch of pics I took over the past few days. You do not need to sign on to see them. Enjoy! Videos to follow soon.

Beautiful pictures, Carol. Are they nesting on some kind of tel-com tower? I remember seeing lots of osprey nests build on top of telephone poles on Shelter Island! It seemed that almost every telephone pole on the island had an osprey's nest.

Thanks Margaret. Yep, they built their nest on top of a communication tower. I think the whole neighborhood came out to talk to Dana, Joyce, Brian and I last night. I had the scope out and they were all quite amazed by these beautiful creatures.

Well! Welcome to the World of Osprey Watching!
I love these entertaining birds. They sing so pretty, are awesome to watch fishing, and (for the most part) are no threat to any one except the fish. I love their Osprey Look and when they wiggle their heads and shoulders in what I call the Osprey Routine. These guys have made a wonderful recovery - they are almost nesting on every available pole by me, but as long as the Chesapeake keeps supplying fish, the Osprey will abound.

There are several Osprey nests at Iroquois NWR that Sage messaged me about. Since then, Bill & I have been over several times in recent weeks to watch them in the nest and just after they fledged. It was a new experience for us and quite fun. Love the sounds they make too.

Don't be sad Carol. There was a period of time when I wasn't opening tweets on my phone to save on my minutes. My mistake, no harm-no foul!

Well, I can certainly understand the wanting to save minutes on your phone. I do the same thing sometimes. and like you said before, you know now.
