humming bird hummer finch hawk falcon
It's always nice to look for birds, that's the reason that I like to organize a Bird Counting Weekend. We did it before and it was fun.
You only have to go outside and look for birds, you can also look when you walk to your work or to the shop or when you are in your house you can move a chair to the window and look outside.
It's real easy. But be careful when you drive in your car.
Write down the birds you see and send them to this topic. I will put all of them in a list and we can see what birds we saw over the whole world.
Start counting the birds on Friday (tomorrow) and Saturday and Sunday.
I hope it's clear to you and that you will participate.
greetings Aafke

What if you don't know what the bird is?? I'm not good on Bird ID's. Then again, I don't see many species anyway! I'll give it my best shot.  Wink   clap

I was thinking we can add a separate topic like "I need ID help" for photos & descriptions so we can help each other out with that...

Yes good idea.
Donna you know a lot of birds in your neighborhood!!! Otherwise just wrote what you saw, something like: funny small bird, looks like a Dutch cow orso (you know with the white and black spots) I'm sure you can come up with something.

My first birds - swallows swooping around and contemplating whether they should take off for warmer climes. I always find this a sad sight. Yet the swallows maintain their joyous demeanour.

(Aafke, do we post each new bird, or do we count them up for the weekend, and then post?)

Carla, you will have very nice weather!
Bobbie, for the topic it will be nice when you send a post about what you see at this moment.
At the end it will be very nice and easy for me when you put all birds in one post.
I haven't seen any bird for the whole morning.
greetings Aafke

Thanks, Aafke. Although there are many birds arriving on our West Coast - apparently the after-effects of hurricanes - things are very quiet in our garden. But I will keep my eyes open and post as soon as something shoots by. You know birds, tho - the minute you start "looking", they hide in the bushes!
