From Rochester Falcon Watcher Carol P.
After hearing from Jim P, Dana and Dan that Mariah was at the Medley Mall this afternoon, I decided to head over there after work and this is what I saw.

She has a whole new world there. For US too. Maybe she will meander back to the cams, once the coast is clear.  heart heart heart

That is an understatement!  clap  She looks fabulous!

So...what exactly is St. Ann's?  She sure looks comfy there.  I personally hope she stays right where she is...it would be nice to see her for myself on a cam, but I don't want to invite trouble.  Looks like she's doing very nicely in her new territory, and now that you all know where to look she's being pretty visible happy

St. Ann's is an elder care/nursing home.  It has a building called the heritage and that is where Mariah is.  It is very tall and so striking that it can be seen from the area at the mall.  Circular building.  Hey, I just thought of this-- she found her own changing scene!!!!  That was circular too!

Our sweet beautiful girl!!!!  So glad she is around and doing so well.   heart heart heart heart heart

I was driving by the Mall at 3:30 today and could see Mariah sitting on her pyramid.  Difficult to drive straight when you are looking at the Queen while driving 60+ mph along the highway.  Good thing my husband was along so he could confirm the sighting for me.  thumbsup

surpriseI think someone posted that the DEC had been notified of Mariah being found at the Medley mall. Does anyone know if the DEC will get in contact with the mall personnel, so that they don't chase Mariah off their glass tower, or hurt her in any way? I wouldn't think they'd be too pleased with poop art all over the glass dome or partly-eaten prey remnants on their roof. Yes, I probably worry too much but would feel better if I knew they were aware of Mariah's presence and her status as a protected raptor.

She doesn't seem to be in a highly populated area of the mall.  There are very few store.  Actually, I think the area beneath her is vacant.  That might help with all of this!

Here's some additional pictures of Mariah from Tuesday the 27th, at both the mall on my lunchhour, and at St. Ann's after work.

I was off work today, but still managed, despite the ALL DAY rain, to take a couple of trips around the area. I was unable to see Mariah anywhere.  Hopefully tomorrow.

Dot - Yes, we've notified the DEC about Mariah and they were very happy to hear that she was doing well.  The Medley Center is just about empty except for two stores, Macy's and Sears, one at each end.  There are Pigeons and Gulls all over the mall and around it.  I don't think a little more poop art will even be noticed.   happy

Will they allow a nest box, either there or at St. Anns? (Just in case)  secret2

The Mall wouldn't be a good spot for a next box.  It's too low.  Not sure if St Ann's would allow one or not.  For now, I think we need to get a better idea of where Mariah is hanging out.
