It's snowing in Ulster County NY.  The birds are gobbling up the seeds I put out this morning.  Big flock of white throated sparrows...the winter chickadees have arrived (my summer crew headed for NJ about a month ago)...juncos too.  I saw one robin this morning-there are a few that winter over lately.  The usual suspects...tufted titmice, white breasted nuthatch, downy woodpecker, mourning dove...

Wow!  You do have lots of snow!  None here in WNY so far!  I saw on the news that tree branches are breaking from the heavy snow like they did here 5 years ago when we had our October snowstorm.  Lots of damage.  Sad

It's still snowing.  We just had an emergency alert on the TV that there's a state of emergency in Dutchess county across the river from me...power lines down on the main highways-Taconic Parkway & I84 are both shut down.

Same here Ei, state of emergency! Trees down all over, power outages...sparks a flyin. Lost ours for 5 minutes then went back on! It's bad out there. 7-10 inches here so far. Where is this snow when I want it at Christmas! Sad

(I have a sick porch cat I can't find or catch. Been missing for a few days, saw her yesterday throwing up across the street. She cried when she saw me, she never ever meows! I feel so bad for her. She is probably under the porch across the way but I can't get to her.) This stuff keeps me awake all night. Poor Lowrider! Snows not helping!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2IDewcDCEk# Here's a video I took 3 years ago. Oct 28, 2008!

WOW, you downstaters and NJ'ers  (is that a word?)  are having weird weather for sure!   Talked to a friend who lives up here in upstate NY and her brother in NJ had four inches of snow on the ground today!   My sisters on LI were freaking out this morning about the prospect of snow in October.     We "hardy" people in upstate Siberia are basking in glorious 37 degree temps but no snow!    We have had snow in previous years on Halloween, but not this year!
Donna, did you post this video of snow three years ago?

Just looking at your pictures, Ei, and lots of leaves on the trees.  Do you have many downed trees and power outages?    This is truly a freak event!   Hope all is well .  Sunny and 60 up here!   :-)

19-inches in West Milford, NJ (my home town).  Had to laugh at TWC broadcasting from Town Hall non-stop yesterday -- guess ol' Mike spent the night in the jail, since there are no other places to stay up there.

There's going to be a lot of leftover candy tomorrow night if they don't get those sidewalks plowed.
