On my way home from work this evening I saw the most extraordinary Canada Goose formation!  Thankfully there's a parking area along the way & I stopped for pictures. My DSL connection here is VERY slow tonight, so I'll try to upload all 90 some pictures from work tomorrow...

Anyway. I first saw them heading west as I was driving south.  Hundreds.  Hundreds & hundreds & hundreds.  They seemed to be heading from the Hudson River (right) to the Ashokan Reservoir (left)...pink pushpins-the center one is where I was parked

Fuzzy & distant-it was getting dark quickly-and there were more off to the right-heading over the mountain to the reservoir.

I was just about to get in the car when I realized they had ALL turned around and were heading back east toward the Hudson!

They just kept coming...

WOW!

Nice pics, Ei.  We saw a huge flock here about 2 weeks ago-geese all over the sky and they kept coming-hundreds of them! Their flight patterns were all over the board. At first we thought they were heading towards Iroquois NWR (west) but then they went south and then they headed east-continuously changed directions.  stupid

Everyday at Manitou 1,000's of Canada Geese come in and land in the fields around the buildings.  It is so impressive to see them.  Nice pics Ei!

I think this screwy winter is confusing them on which way to go. JMO  Grin

The geese are a-moving!  Huge flocks have been in the fields and in the air around the Bay for the last couple of weeks.  Expect to see a LOT on the Eastern Shore on Saturday on our way to NJ!
