Bird ID help
«
on:

Please excuse the dirty windows...they all hide when I go outside...
So...is this fellow a purple finch or a house finch?
I really didn't question it-figured it was an average house finch-until I saw the female.
Female above
Female right
She just seems so much stripier than I recall female house finches being that I started to doubt myself.
Opinions? Thanks!

I'd say Purple Finch.

I'd say Purple Finch.
That would be great! I've never actually been able to ID one for sure here.

I've always had house finches and they don't look like mine, would have to go with purple finch too. Congratulations!

Thanks! He's even more striking in real life. I am now on a mission to get a non-window picture of them!
