Beauty arrives back with no lunch. One little one decides Momma's toes and tail will be just fine for lunch:

That's what I was thinking. Maybe the DEC is so short staffed or funded? That would be so sad.

If my math is correct, the oldest is 24 days today. Are we still within the window of banding, or is their activity precocious?

I wish SOMEONE would tell us if they will be banded, and when. Has anyone been in touch with the DEC and/or June Summers? I think at least the watchers have a right to know this.
I sent a PM to Carol a while ago expressing my concerns too. The window to band is said to be between 22-27 days of age and Orion was banded at 23 days old. Many members are getting concerned that banding may not take place and there's also a concern that the eyasses are starting to explore outside the box. Can one of the Mods, Administrators, June Summers give members of the Forum an answer as to what's going on so we don't have to continue worrying about what might or might not happen?

I won't comment on bureaucracy that is out of
any
of our control...other than to say my experience has always been you push, they dig in their heels even further.
But the youngest is just 22 days today...late tonight if you want to be technical about it. It's a range to account for multiples, not something written in stone.
Yesterday's outing was a stumble. I didn't see today's live, but he was back in with no trouble. They band eyases not in a box all the time.
I guess I'm just trying to say it's not time to panic by any means. Communication would be nice, but see item #1.

Was the nestbox at Kodak Office Tower larger than this one? This box, with three, seems more crowded than the NB with the last group of five that was Quest's year in 2008. Or our my eyes playing tricks on me?

It's about the same size. We're also looking at it from a different angle-we're looking down on it where at Kodak the main cam was more level with the floor of the NB. And when they huddle together they don't take up much room.

Absolutely, Ei. I just wish I had a bit of faith that the people who do have control of this situation actually know that it's banding time.

While we all care so much for these creatures I don't think you can keep pushing the issue. We have to remember what happened when some pushed the issue of the deceased PEFA on the top of one of Rochester's buildings. We are so lucky to be given the exposure that we have to this nest and consequently want more but realistically have to be thankful for the wonderful setup, our dedicated watchers, talented keepers of the records and cameras, lurkers and those at DEC and have patience for what may or may not come, don't you agree?

Absolutely, and that incident is precisely why I am not pushing the issue.
