Rhea Mae arrived first

Then a fledgling arrives...

It's Journey!  wub2 She left after this.

Good to have some good news after the tragedies of the past few days

Quiet morning
June 16, 2012 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre

Harry Crawford Reports:

Morning Shift:  From the ground I had dad on the north side of the
Hilton.  Mom and Marlee were on the south side of the Sheraton roof.
I then headed to King St. and on the way, spotted a chick on 130
Adelaide.  I assume it was either Marlee had moved or Journey.  At
11:30am, I was back to do a head count.  Nothing was seen from the
street level or Sheraton 43.

Another juvie on the ledge.

I don't think it's Journey-the head seems much lighter than the bird from this morning.  They didn't spend enough time at the near end to really learn their coloring.  Looks large, though-hopefully it is Fef.

!!! Fef comes to ground. She’s Good to go!
June 16, 2012 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Linda Woods Reports:

Friday morning, CPF received a call from Toronto Wildlife that one of the Sheraton juveniles was picked up from 220 Bay St, by Etobicoke Animal Services.   It was identified as “Fef”  from the Sheraton.  Toronto Wildlife was tending to it, and said that they would keep it overnight and have the Vet, check it out in the morning, but they did reassure us, the Fef looked fine and had gained weight since it was banded on May 23rd.

Saturday morning, Bruce retrieved the juvenile from Toronto Wildlife and delivered it back to the Sheraton ledge. Fef was looking good! Bruce and I placed her back on the ledge around 4:20 p.m. with Tiago on the nest ledge waiting for her.  A lot of screaming and hoping around after release. She sat on the nest ledge for approximately 20 minutes and then she was off. Did a few circles high above the Sheraton and then flew due south towards King St.  At the same time I had both Marlee and Journey in view, sitting on the roof of the Sheraton and the letter “e” of Centre.

I made my way to 43 for a better view and found Fef on the very top of the Exchange Tower at King and York streets. Good strong flight.

Marlee and Journey seem to enjoy hanging out on the Sheraton. At 6:00p.m. Bruce and I  decided that these juvies are high and maintaining thier height  and that the watch can ease off and go to periodic checks.

Rhea Mae and Tiago can take good care of them from now on. We will still be on hand should the juvies come to ground or are in need of our assistance.

It is greatly appreciated by all the CPF volunteers for Toronto Wildlife and their services they provide for city’s wildlife. They can not be thanked enough for the work they do.

Thanks also to Etobicoke Animal Services for their assistance in helping get Fef into a safe place and providing the information for her return.

The Sheraton Watch will continue on a light basis. We will be available at any time should anyone see any peregrine in need of assistance.

On behalf of Mark Nash of CPF, many many thanks to all the volunteers that put in all the long hours at the numerous nest sites. Including the two downtown nests, Toronto Sheraton Centre and 18 King St.

Job well done, Thanks Everyone!
