I love what you wrote about Rhea Mae! It certainly has come true.

Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of the loss of one of those great matriarchs, Mae, in a territorial battle with Belinda. Mae was the very first falcon, worldwide, to nest at a power plant. She raised 37 chicks there during her lifetime.

Mae's last daughter, Speedy, twelve years old this year, laid her first egg two days ago — the same day Quest laid her first egg.

Rhea was the first Peregrine I had seen in person and I instantly fell in love with her.  She died soon after that.  I so respected Mae and had wanted to honor her also.  Hence the name Rhea Mae!

Rhea Mae and Tiago continued bonding yesterday evening. They have such a strong bond, and they are so gentle with each other.

I have video of Rhea Mae and Tiago that I took when we first visited her nest site after she just arrived.  It shows her and Tiago together at the end of the nest ledge.  I am pretty sure they were vocalizing and bowing and getting to know each other.  I will have to take the time to post that.

 I never knew either of these Falcons but, reading the posts this AM, it sounds like Carol picked the right name to give to Rhea Mae! She and Tiago are a beautiful couple and legendary in their own right!
