This is a view of the Northeast wall of the Crossroads Building this afternoon.  Sorry for the poor quality.  No doubt MAK's photos will be better.

You can see this wall on the view from Cam 4.  That will give you a better idea of its location.

Thanks Patsy for going out. MAK sent me this pic from her phone. Sad So sad whoever it is. I prayed it wasn't Beauty or Pigott but with Pigott not showing up at BS, I'm a bit concerned. If it is Pigott and she and Beauty had an early morning battle, we CAN'T blame Beauty. I know how people get and just want to hate her and I felt the same when Mariah was injured. I forgave and others must also. This is the life of a Falcon, they defend, it's what they do. I hate seeing any falcon injured from a battle but it happens every day in the bird world, we just don't see it like we have here the past few years. I PRAY it isn't Pigott but if not......then who? Sad no matter!

(There may not have been a battle, maybe this falcon was injured by something else and just landed there), we'll probably never know.

The more time that goes by with no sighting of Pigott, the more I fear it is her.  Beauty did - assuming it is female - what she had to do Donna.  I hate the fights too, waiting right now for word over at Harrisburg as there was just a ledge fight there and no one has returned yet.

Thanks for posting, Donna. Something, I don't know what, tells me that these are not Pigott's tailfeathers.  I hope I'm right.

Well, if it is Pigott...and I'm still hoping not...but if a fight between Beauty & Pigott was going to happen and only one survive I'm glad it happened now rather than after the season was already under way.

I know this is off the wall and why it popped into my head I don't know. But I wonder if our little guy just couldn't make it through the winter (Archer)  wub2 maybe he tried coming home ... we have to wait and see.

If Beauty did get into a fight with whoever I don't blame her (after last year) of not giving an inch. She gave Unity a break and look where that got her. They had a couple scuffles before the big one.

We all have our favorites and some get more attached to individuals than others, NONE of us likes  to see the end come for any of the Peregrine's that's a given. Everyone has to realize its part of a healthy population that there will be challenges, winners and losers. That there are more  Peregrines out there is a new dynamic, we never had enough to have so many challenges for territory. There has been a lot of turnover here in southern Ontario too, but there are lots of areas that are suitable habitat(nesting spots) that are yet to be filled. These times will be full of turmoil, its part of the success of the continuing Peregrine Falcon recovery!  We all must remain vigilante, as the recovery continues, new challenges for not only the Peregrines but the watchers must be met. There are a lot of new observations to make and information to process.

It seems like a very strange pose for a peregrine, living or dead, to be in. The proportions seem strange -- where is the tail? -- and there seems to be a light spot on one of the wings. It also seems wider than I would expect a peregrine to be.  It's a mystery.

All the watchers that were downtown believe it is a peregrine.

I guess that's the price we have to pay for a recovering species. Sigh...
