Sigh! Every morning, I cannot wait to get to this site and see an egg in the NB. Sigh... I so thought Beauty was going to oblige us yesterday. Alas. Sigh. Is it getting late for her to get started?? Is it possible for her to be egg-bound? I know little/nothing about how this occurs, so would welcome feedback.

From what I understand peregrines do not get egg bound like pet birds do.

Is it late? Not really. Last year was late. I posted this 10 days ago...

And just for the record for anyone starting to feel anxious about the date...

Mariah laid a 1st egg as late as 4/14
Rhea Mae is late this year...4/1 is the latest she has ever laid a 1st egg. And Erin is late too...she's always within a day of Rhea Mae.
Harlequin was laid 4/21 or 4/23
Jemison & Callidora were laid 4/8-4/15

We are at the tail end of the typical egg laying window for the northeast, but it's not written in stone. There are other nests just starting now.

We don't know what's "normal" for Beauty because we have yet to have a "normal" season with her.

But all signs are pointing to her preparing to lay an egg. I will leave you with a pic I saw in one of my middle of the night checks last night...please observe her posterior...

Ei, I knew you had posted dates, but of course forgot when I needed them. Did not know that about not being egg-bound in wild birds. Interesting.

When I was watching her in the NB yesterday, I did get a look at her posterior and so thought she was gonna do it!

Thanks again!!

So last night, as most nights, I had a dream about what's going on in my life. This one had a pretty clear message for a change.

In my dream I was reminded that I had never even heard the term egg-bound until I met Beauty. We have had a discussion about whether a PeFa can get egg-bound every single season we've watched her.

This bird requires an abundance of patience.

Exactly, Ei!! Watching her almost makes me hurt!
