Very interesting. I will show it to my husband who is ship pilot in all the ports of Patagonia.
IĀ“ve travelled a lot on big merchant ships and in crusiers in Antartica, and it seems to me very weird to watch a ship sailing directly to the near coast at 15knots

wow. A lot of poor bats.
The way they erradicate them is crazy. The poor bats are forced to fly during day, probably they fell in the neighborhood, increasing the chance that pets and children enter in contact with the bats...

Because I couldĀ“t access the forum, I didn`t send you any Xmas or New Year salutation.
so, I want to wish every one of you a very Happy Chinese New Year. This is a Year of the Dragon. And more important, 2012 will celebrate the International Year of the Bats, promoted by UNEP and CMS.
So, Happy and Batty 2012!

thanks for posting this
As you know, I was in Delaware Bay last week representing Argentina during its 25th celebration as the first site of Western Hemispheric Shorebird Reserve Net. Things there, for shorebirds and horseshoe crabs are really bad, so this is really another bad new. But there is hope with people still fighting, all together, focused in solve the problems each one with a little or big effort. That people picking up and releasing horseshoe crabs are part of the solution, part of the web that can save  horseshoe crabs and shorebirds
I`m working now in shorebirds and bat conservation, but I`m first an aracnologist who love spiders. So I learnt how a web had created a lot of differents solutions and possibilities. Spiders are so succesfull beecouse they can spin webs....
If we can construct, spin a powerful web of people, ngos, agencies concerned and working together for horseshoe crabs and shorebirds, we can, for sure, save them.
Spreading the news is an important contribution!
