I've been trying to figure out how Callidora manages to hide so well on the south ledge corner...didn't realize the box was that far from the wall...she's getting behind it.

8:08 Beauty brings in dinner & feeds the girls

8:20 Dinner's over & Callidora is picking at a wing while Jemison's on top of the box.

8:22 Archer arrives with a snack.  Beauty flies up and steals the snack in a flurry of wings.  Next thing we know, Jemison's not on the roof any more.  Panning around...no Jemison.  We can hear her...

8:24 Adult arrives with a snack...Callidora grabs it & runs into the box.  (Have to check the tape...I think Beauty brought it...and then...)

8:26 Archer arrives & eats some of the snack then feeds the rest to Callidora

8:28 Jemison pops up

...she was on the side of the box all along!

PHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was a rough few minutes EI. I'm still sweating from it!

In the old days when we did all that panning around it was just the operator who was sweating.  The viewers just saw still pics from the search at one-minute intervals.  Now we can all sweat together.

that flapping on the edge can go on for hours. during my watches it made me crazy

Yeah, and then one time they jump into the air and just like that, they've fledged.  Those are heart stoppers!

Reviewed the tape...Jemison had actually already left the roof when the flurry happened...but it happened so fast with so much squawking...you can see & hear Beauty flying in from the south to intercept Archer...it seemed to all happen at once.  I'm going to try trimming the video down to just that scene...incredible!

And it was Archer who came back with the snack Callidora stole.

Dale, I know what you mean.  I had heart failure when they flapped at Water St over the FDR.  And when the first fledgling landed on the sign right over the road and sat and flapped and jumped for over 3 hours, we all needed our blood pressure medication tripled.
