Some serious concerns about the health of both Dixie and Yankee apparently, Peregrine Place has just posted about it as viewers have seen them both panting heavily and not incubating at times:

I'm watching the cam at home now and they are right, Dixie doesn't look good...very strange behavior.  It's like she is in a trance, standing there with mouth gaping, eyes closed...looks like she is trying to focus.

Yankee came to relieve Dixie and she took off like a shot.  He seems fine in comparison, very alert..no panting yet that I can see.  He's tight on eggs right now...will keep watching.

Posted on FB-

NEWS ALERT: UB The DEC has just informed me that it is accepted that the eggs are no longer viable and they will be removed from the box.and  sent to a lab for analysis. It is being planned for tomorrow if everything else is completed today.

Our DEC had to coordinate with UB, the head Wildlife Mgr, get permission from  the Albany DEC  and the USFWS in Cortland. Nothing could be done before that.

Of course this is very sad for us but at least the birds will no longer have to keep incubating non-viable eggs. The nest box will be checked to try and determine the cause of this year’s problems. I will post any information as it come in.

On a good note for our Peregrine watchers, we have the great Statler cam to follow and I think there is a crack in one egg which I’ve seen to the left.

Hope they find out whatever was causing the adults to appear overheated while incubating in the box..a sad ending to another season for this great pair.  Cry

Friends in NY wanted to see how Defiant (Peregrine Falcon) is doing. Here she is - almost done with her molt and looking pretty!

BB (now known as Defiant) hatched at the Whittier Apartments in Detroit in 2007. She nested in NY at the University of Buffalo and Richardson Towers. She is now an education bird in Arizona. Looking good BB/Defiant!

Feel bad for her but at least she is alive!! She does look great!  heart

Poor Defiant (BB) is in the peregrine Witness Protection Program, I guess.  I'm glad she's doing well.  She does look kind of thin, though.
