Just so long as she was relocated. I wouldn't put it past these so called people to do something worse. Of course they didn't write down band numbers. Then there would be evidence of what they were doing. This being legal is highly questionable in my book.

I'm surprised she didn't find her way back! Look at Mariah?

Posted by Chad & Chris on CMNH forum.  Perhaps a reason we never heard from Seneca again.

Joyce-- you're right that the nest area makes them vulnerable. DOW really did want to get a nest tray into that cubby, but it was a conflict with the airport. We didn't get around to posting this, but we found out that they had been trapping and relocating raptors at the airport in an effort to prevent airplane/bird strikes. No way of knowing, but it could even explain how Seneca disappeared at such an odd time. They were transporting trapped peregrines all the way to Toledo (over 100 miles away). Laura met with airport officials and there is now an agreement in place that all trapped birds from the airport will be assessed (and identified, if banded) at the MRC. The resident peregrines would not be relocated if they get trapped. However, it was after that meeting that Cheyenne was transported out to Back to the Wild, so hopefully the protocol will work more efficiently in the future."

Why am I not surprised??!!!  Federal Agencies and State Agencies and Local Agencies don't play well together - Even with Homeland, the pethora of security groups still don't talk to each other.

Wow...just wow.  All we can do is hope she's OK and will be seen somewhere.

That was my point, Toledo is not that far from Cleveland as the falcon flies. Quest has shown us that. Mariah and Milton have shown us their wish to go home after rehab no matter where they are released. I worry that those people did something else and just said the birds were relocated.  Cry

Peregrines are still listed as "endangered" in New York.  Are they in Ohio?  At the very least, they are listed as "threatened".  I cannot believe this is legal.  Has C&C or anyone in Ohio reported this to, I don't know, someone that can check into it?

This just seems so wrong in so many ways.   Sad

Report today about Cheyenne:
I just got a report on Cheyenne. He seems to be doing quite well, and may be moved to a flight cage sometime soon. I did not know that an engineer in a building I occasionally work in volunteers out at MRC! It was nice to get the feedback. Photos are of him holding Cheyenne.
