Change of plans. Couldn't connect to office from home so had to come in as reports are due this morning. Mom is going to the eye doctor on her own, she insisted she can do it.
Aria on swing stage arm and Lucky on cam when I arrived. Have lots of work and meetings this morning but will do my best to keep an eye out.
7.58 am and all is quiet. Both still in the same positions facing south.
9.00 am and still quiet. Aria on center ledge (one ledge over from the nest box ledge) eating and Lucky not in sight. Very cloudy out today and cold but no sign of 'big bird' yet.

Rob just arrived on site, going outside to brief him. He's working at noon today but will spend an hour or two here monitoring for us.

Aria is on the nest tray, Rob saw her bringing in a pigeon and she prepared it and ate some. All is well so far.

All quiet so far. Workmen on center tower and crane by west tower. I don't see Aria and Lucky anywhere out there, did see a kettle of TV's come by but otherwise quiet.
Edit to add: soon as I posted that, look what appeared on cam. Lucky is sticking close to her this morning.

Lucie on site now. We saw Aria fly to the web cam perch and she is currently perched there for the first time we've seen. Lucie took some photos we can post later tonight.

Canadian Peregrine Foundation
It is with great sadness that we must report the loss of our dear Erin at the 18 King Street East nest site after ruling the skies at here for the past 15 years. On December 30th, Toronto Police discovered Erin deceased on the sidewalk on Adelaide St. just east of Toronto St. late in the evening. Toronto Animal Services was called to the scene and the officer on duty retrieved and delivered her to Linda at which time her identity was positively confirmed. Erin is now currently resting at the CPF Raptor Centre in Woodbridge.
Erin was hatched in Wisconsin in 1998 and was discovered nesting in Toronto in 2003 paired up with Windwhistler who hatched at the Etobicoke Sunlife Centre. Together they produced 37 offspring of which many have gone on, and still carry on, having fantastic breeding careers of their own.
Tiago - hatched 2005 now at Toronto Sheraton - her son.
Malik - hatched 2010 now at Canada Square - her son.
Stormin' - hatched 2010 now at King St - her grandson and current mate.
Legacy - hatched 2009 now at St Mary's - her grandson.
Ossie - hatched 2011 now at Hamilton Sheraton - her grandson.
Athena - hatched 2010 now at Stoney Creek - her granddaughter.
Ariel - hatched 2013 now at Mount Sinai - her great granddaughter.
Simcoe - hatched 2012 now at Oshawa Hospital - her great grandson.
Louise - hatched 2016 positioning herself to potentially take a site in Wisconsin or neighboring state. - her granddaughter.
This is just a short top-of-my-head list of Erin's family out there thriving today. Many have come and gone already and have left their mark on the world. Erin's young that have had incredibly successful careers before they were cut short are:
Hurricane at William Osler Hospital
Ely in Ohio
Dougal in London
Sir Adam in Burlington
Kendal at Harlequin
And the list goes on and on...
Erin was one of the most influential peregrines to have ever graced the skies of Toronto as proven by her living legacy today. She was so beautiful. So many birds that have lived and thrived as a result of Erin's nesting successes that at last count number over 143 genetically connected individuals. Thank you Erin for all that you have given us for the past 15 years, you will be forever and dearly remembered by all of us.

The last few years she spent more time laying down than standing so I'm thinking she's at peace now and free from pain. I can't even imagine how she stood the record breaking temperatures we've had the past few weeks..it's minus 33 here this morning with the wind chill. I'm so glad she was found and given over to Linda, who has watched over her and her offspring for the past 15 years.
Erin would have been 20 years old this May...she lived longer than any female in the wild that I know of and she managed to keep her territory to the very end. She really is, as MAK said, a 'legend'!
