Zebra Dove
OK, I will jump right in with my last bird! This mediorce photograph was made at thr Kona Coast, Hawaii. The Zebra Dove is an Asian bird and was introduced into Hawaii in 1922. The better image is from Wikipedia.

Annette beat me to the zebra finch! I'll just again post a link to the Barbican Center's installation where zebra finches got to play electric guitars:

and here is the other, rarer kind of zebra finch that does not play guitar:

And here's my last bird as well!
Z
osterops lateralis is his latin name...his English name is Silvereye, and his Maori name, being a New Zealand bird, where they get an extra name, is Tauhou.
We photographed him in Christchurch, New Zealand, and unlike many birds we saw there, he's native.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for the ABCs of Birds. It was fun to read about
each one. There were a lot of birds that I did not recognize.
A good exercise for all.

Ei - that first shot - on the snow - that's insane! Explain the angle, please.
What a very nice and strange picture.

It's a VERY lucky take-off shot. It was eating a sunflower seed on the snow-you can see the empty hulls-and I thought I was taking a picture of it still sitting. I was shooting through the window of my back door (excellent view as I don't have a porch out there yet-see the 3rd picture
) so it's flying up toward the ledge below me to get some more seed.

OK, I thought it was from above, but it's so wild. The wingtips are just exquisite. That's definitely suitable for framing.
