I thought...um, nevermind. I think that egg cracked in the nest. I thought Archer took 2 eggs. No Ei, you didn't miss anything. I'm just missing a piece of my mind!
Actually, your mind is fine, just the details are fuzzy...Archer was on the second egg when it collapsed into a zillion tiny pieces.

Like sitting on a balloon and it pops. I'll bet it startled him and he did an UH OH!!

So sorry for the sad news,Mak, but it's almost better there wasn't anything in
there to begin with; nothing was really lost; it never was there in the first
place. The sad part is Beauty and Archer had incubated so faithfully waiting
for the little babes. But those wonderful traits as will have them keep trying
again--I guess we just have to see what transpires. After all, tomorrow is a
new day. . . Christiane

Our backyard mockingbird pair nested in a roll of fence and produced a brood of four which fledged in May. Today, that pair, or another, is guarding and incubating another clutch of four eggs in the same nest. While mockingbirds are known for multiple clutches, perhaps there is hope for B&A.
