Is that blood on Unity?
I wondered the same thing, Donna, but didn't want to say.  Actually, I wasn't sure of what I was looking at on the ground underneath them and what appear to be a ledge.  I was unsure if it was my computer or the light etc.    Is anyone else wondering the same thing.
I think watchers saw Unity after that.
Looking at the pictures today, Archer and Beauty are both in and out of the nest box.
When I looked at the archives from yesterday while was on the eggs from 12:30 - 4:11, he seemed jumpy and very protective of the eggs.
I hope all is well at TS building and at KP.

Our friends at Kodak sent over a couple of pictures taken yesterday afternoon near 1PM local time, on the 18th floor balcony of the Kodak Tower.  The pictures show two adult Peregines, both about the same size, having a pretty intense-looking fight:

There are a lot of compression artifacts in the images which make for plenty of chromatic aberrations and overall softness.  I wouldn't rely on them for any detailed examination, especially if you're looking for dark blood against dark feathers.  Our best source of information about Unity's appearance and health will be the watchers out at Kodak Park.

I agree with Lord G that its all chromatic aberration and compression artifacts.

I'm surprised that the two of them got into a fight on Kodak Tower.  Why should two falcons land there and fight on the ledge rather than do some aerial sparring to establish a territorial boundary?  Does someone want to nest there?  Ideas?

I'm wondering where they were-- is that floor the one that has kind of a walk around where people used to stand.  It looks like a kind of landing.

I saw Unity yesterday at 3:45 pm and she was sleeping, head tucked under her wing.  Last night Dana and I watched her for a couple hours and she was flying around and landing.  She seemed fine.  MAK saw Beauty flying around this morning.  So it looks like all well, at least at this point.  Whew!

It looks like it was on the floor of the balcony and the person was taking pictures through a window.  Have to wonder how loud the fight was.  Probably was REAL loud!   scared blue

It's the 18th floor.  The top couple of floors have balconies that can be used for emergency evacuations if needed.  Other than that they are rarely accessed.

Thanks, Jim and Carol, I have been correcting papers all week and couldn't think of the word "balcony."   Cheesy

This reminds me of something that Mark Bezinque reported 9 days ago.

About 10 minutes ago I was meeting with someone in my office, telling him about the falcons. Just then one flies by the window, and the person I was meeting with said there were two. The two began to fight, engaging in a locked death spiral just to the south of Broad Street over the river. Beauty took off from the nest to join the fight.

Had to be one of the more spectacular sights I've seen out my window.

wave  I saw all 3 of our Rochester falcons today and they all seemed just fine. Flying with no problem and no blood on any of them!  It's all good for now.  Grin

That's right!  There is so much going on...not just with our falcons, that it's hard to keep track!    I remember reading Mark's post.   Yesterday was not the first time...probably...for B and U to meet.

So I wonder if this means that it was really Beauty and Unity were in a battle and Archer joined or Archer and Unity were in a battle and Beauty joined.
