After a 20 minute stand-off, Beauty entered the nestbox...

B: "I want the eggs back..."
DC: "NO! I'm on them!
B: "Now! Need I remind you that I'm bigger?"

That crop is so full it looks like she has a growth!

And also note the berme of pebbles toward the back.  NCAFalcon & I were chatting the other day about pebble picking. A falconer in California has observed his captive breeding falcon's pebble picking. He has observed she drags the pebbles and builds a berme of pebbles around herself, perhaps to keep in the heat.  She may eat a few, but it's deliberate behavior, not just random boredom.

That's pretty wild, her crop and the pebble analogy! Thanks.

A little fuzzy, but her foot looks better to me.

Her crop is still full enough to last a couple of days!

The only good shot of Beauty's foot today.

That is a good picture of Beauty's foot.  I've added it to the pics to send to the DEC next week.  Thanks Donna!

Is the DEC, Vets, anyone communicating to anyone here what they think about the infection in Beauty's foot-how they think it looks, going to medicate or wait to see if the infection worsens?

A Quick Update (5/30/12): As requested, we will be sending pictures of Beauty’s injured foot to Barbara Loucks of the NYS DEC weekly. This is so she will be able to share the pics with their vet, showing the progress of the injury. We sent some pictures last night (5/29/12) and have already received a response back from Barbara stating that their vet did not think it looked significantly different. We will continue to send pictures weekly to the DEC so that they may continue to monitor the progression of Beauty’s injury.
