This is a shot taken in the middle of the tug-o-war - please notice the only 'benefit' that the little one got out of this was several more smears of red on the feathers, as it took place directly over him...
DC flew to the top of Cam 4, then brought food into the nest box... here B has successfully gotten it away from him, but then DC grabbed it back (this happened a couple of times). Realizing that he wasn't going to be able to feed his baby, he nabbed it and flew away again with it...
Little one actually had his beak open this time... last feeding was at 9:41, and he looked like he was going to burst that time!

Baby's eye feather-what was the Star Trek character with the antennae & purple skin?
Blue skin-sorry-Andorian...
You sure it wasn't this green-skinned "dish"?

Did she have some horns that I don't remember?

Three things come to mind...
1. Interesting to note the size difference between the two 'adults'... (term used loosely after witnessing yet another 'food fight')
2. Little one's crop isn't so full, now he can finally sit up without leaning on his egg 'pillows' ...
3. Can you imagine the lessons he'd be learning about sharing if he had a sibling?

DC finally gets a chance... but he doesn't bring food this time!
Little one is ready to eat, and DC has been doing the squirmy eyas rodeo, which ends in the infamous "I'm ignoring you" position!

Then Beauty arrived...and just took over the feeding without any fuss!

Wow, I still don't believe it. I thin her new name is Houdini as what I saw was a slight of hand. The way her feet were positioned and the blood on one of the talons made that last two pieces look bigger than it was.
Thanks DK for taking the time to solve the mystery.

Still amazing it goes down bones & all!
Does anyone have the one of Gahastey [Carol thought it was her] with the foot sticking out of her mouth handy? I know I have it in the archives, but no time to search right now...
