I've been wondering... haven't we seen the adults get rid of the non-viable eggs in the past? So I am curious about why the two eggs are still sitting there, seemingly being ignored. Anyone?

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. Beauty & Archer didn't remove the non-viable eggs last year until they collapsed. Dorothy's unhatched egg (Cathedral of Learning) was still there on banding day.

Thanks for the Egg Info,Ei. I guess they do not have (?) a strong sense of smell, as they just ignore them. Interesting.

leftover prey on base of main cam

Beauty's tactics worked! She cached some food on the base of the main cam last night and went to get it early to feed jr/jr-ette.

prey gone

an early feeding, she's not taking any chances like yesterday when baby was 1st fed after 11am. Smart momma.

Baby poohed her tail also!

enough to fill the crop

And here's another thing... I am seeing rather large prey items... or is this just my imagination? Anyone know the species we are seeing? I sure don't.

There has been a mix of large & small, but Dot's a big bird so he can probably carry larger prey than the average tiercel. I have been trying to ID the prey with very little success. Most have been shades of gray. The first clearly brown bird I've seen was Sunday. Most are pretty well plucked by the time they get to the nest box.

Thanks for the prey info, Ei. If you can't ID, no one can. Had forgotten that Dot is a big lad...
