Thanks for moving the cam so we can see him.   Each falcon handles banding/human intrusion differently - certainly we saw that with poor NG in Harrisburg and yet others seem to get over it quickly.

Just happy he is safe and sound and looking out for his family even if it is from afar .  Beauty I'm sure would like to thank the banders, no more scuffling over 'who' is feeding Orion  2funny

Yup-they actually have a crane mounted on the roof (that's the Chase building) to lower the window washer platforms. They were doing that when I was there last year right around this time.

Rochester, N.Y. —

The Rochester Falconcam announced the banding of a young Peregrine Falcon by biologists from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

The young falcon, eyas, is 22 days old and is located in a nest box on top of the Time-Square Building in downtown Rochester. The young falcon’s mother, Beauty, is from Pittsburg and the father, Dot.ca, is from Canada.
Rochester Falconcam and DEC bands a Peregrine Falcon

This morning, DEC biologist removed the young bird for a short time while certain measurements were made, and the leg measurement indicated this eyas is a male. His health inspection showed a clear mouth, eyes and throat. Numbered metal bands were placed on both legs so the bird can be recognized and tracked in the future.

The numbered metal bands placed around the young falcons legs will allow the DEC and other organizations to track it in the future.

Peregrine Falcons are a New York State Endangered species. DEC is working with the Peregrine Fund to restore the Peregrine Falcon population.
