DotCa vanished into thin air once he learned to hunt successfully on his own it seemed to me.  And as Frank likes to remind me ... I flipped out and thought something had happened to him because he left so soon compared to his brothers. 

Then a few months later we had someone send us photos of a young DC north of Toronto in the trees.  Even then I worried cause I thought he looked thin    and here we are today watching him on cam!

Maybe Orion will run into those 2 girls from Buffalo and have some 'singing' partners to travel the world with

I hate when they do that, though. You always wind up worrying even though you know it's not logical.

Is she waiting for DC to come in? He needs to bond with her more. I don't know, these 2 don't seem to be into each other.   She needs commitment and he just can't give it to her. 

Maybe he will come down.

They aren't beating on each other (not counting the feeding squabbles) and they seem to be hanging out together peacefully most of the time. I'm good with that

Will just have to wait until next Spring and see what happens.

I was just checking Quest's maps from her hatch year. Not sure her specific hatch date-May 8-11, 2008-but August 1, 2008 she was in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.


Quest is one of these 5 heads!

OK...last post on the topic...I made a collage with yesterday on the left & June 30 on the right.



I think you can see where there are enough differences to make me stop & ask.

I didn't know the chest feathers could make that much of a change during molting...thanks for that tip bev!

I apologize for raising a ruckus! 

When I first saw our young adult male like that towards end of august , I thought something was wrong( as he had been so white) so I talked to our biologist and this is whine he explained the molting and change of colors etc. He said this is good becasue it shows they are healthy.
